PRIZES
The prizes for the 2002 competition were kindly
sponsored by npower and the City Museum Service, and were
awarded for the Intermediate Class winners as follows:-
1st Prize - £50 cheque for the winner + special presentation
cup (to be held by the winner's school for a year), and a £100 cheque
for the winner's school.
2nd Prize - £30 cheque for the winner and a £75 cheque for
the winner's school.
3rd Prize -£20 cheque for the winner and a £50 cheque for
the winner's school.
Runners-Up - £5 cheque for the winners (10 prizes awarded
for each age category) All prize-winners receive a special certificate
signed by the judging panel and a commemorative coin.
2002 COMPETITION
RULES - PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE NO
COMPETITION IN 2003
Any young person, or group of young people, aged 7 -18 may enter
the competition.
The work submitted
may be a project undertaken at school, or a privately conducted
study, and may be of any length.
The work submitted
must concern an aspect of Worcester's history or archaeology (NB
Worcester, England!).
Entries which
comprise for the most part work copied directly from other sources
will not be considered.
Entries may be
hand written, typed or otherwise printed, and may include information
on audio tape, videotape or in digital form providing this forms
an integral part of the project.
Entries, together
with a completed Entry Form, must be submitted to The City History
Award Co-ordinator, The Commandery, Sidbury, Worcester WR1 2HU
by the competition closing date (Friday 25th October 2002) or
they will not be considered for the 2002 competition.
Entries will be
judged in three classes; Junior Class (ages 7 to 10); Intermediate
Class (ages 11 - 14); and Senior Class (ages 15 - 18). Class or
group entries must conform with these age criteria, and so entries
from mixed age groups will not be accepted.
Entries will
be judged according to the originality of subject or approach,
the use of primary sources, the use of English (expression, grammar
and spelling), and the neatness and clarity of presentation.
The judges reserve
the right not to award a place(s) in any class if the work submitted
fails to meet a satisfactory standard, and the decision of the
judging panel is final.
