Slade's shoe shop in the High Street, Worcester
1960s
Slades, another well-known shoe manufacturer in
Worcester, was established in 1789. In the early 19th century
they were commissioned to make shoes for Queen Adelaide (consort
of King William IV) while they were staying at Whitley Court.
The company was very proud of their royal appointment and used
it in their marketing for at least the next 150 years. They opened
branches in Cheltenham in 1847 and Cardiff in the 1920's.
