24th March – 5th May, 2007

In 1907,  Welbourn  Piper the inventor,  presented to the world of photography the Bromoil printing process.

This exhibition is staged by The Bromoil Circle of Great Britain, to commemorate the centenary year and to introduce this unique, alas, little known photographic printing process to a wider audience.

The contemporary and archival  images on display, executed in one of the earliest photographic processes, are drawn from the Permanent Collection  of the Society and the work of the present day members.

The Bromoil Circle of Great Britain was founded in 1931 as a postal club by Sam Weller, who was one of the outstanding British  bromoilists  of his time.  Today its aim is also to ensure the survival of the 100 years old process to the generations to come.

On Saturday 31st March, members of the Society will be running two FREE demonstrations in the morning at 10.30am – 11.30am and 12.15am – 1.00pm, at Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum. (No booking required)

On Saturday 28th April members will be running a workshop for adults, also at the Art Gallery, where you can try your hand at the 100 year old process.

(Places are limited, so booking is essential) Please contact Angie Bishop, Visitor Services Manager, on 01905 25371 for further information.
