Lowesmoor (23k)

Suburban Lowesmoor and Silver Street

Outside St Martin's Gate were the suburbs of Silver Street and Lowesmoor. Like most medieval suburbs these were not wealthy and were built up mainly with cottages, usually single-storey, sometimes single-room, houses. Silver Street was probably inhabited by tile makers (certainly later on), and clay pits are shown in the garden crofts behind the house plots.
