The Show of the Royal Agricultural Society, Battenhall (1863)

Anonymous

The show of the Royal Agricultural Society at Worcester took place at Battenhall in 1863. Medieval Battenhall was a deer park for the priory of Worcester, which passed through a succession of families after the Dissolution. Queen Elizabeth I hunted here during her visit in 1575. Battenhall Road was created as an entrance to the show and developed as a residential suburb in the late 19th century.
