Estate buildings at Perdiswell (1970's)

Anonymous

Perdiswell Hall was built for the Wakeman family in 1788 by George Byfield. Thomas Wakeman was Mayor of Worcester in 1761 and owned much land in Claines. The Hall was sold about 1860 and was eventually burnt down and demolished in 1956. Many of the estate buildings at Perdiswell survived the Hall. The City Council used the gardens and yards, but most of the buildings have since been cleared. This photograph was taken in the 1970's. The park was used as an airfield during the Second World War.
