Old Worcester Waterworks, Barbourne
(20th century)
by H. Holland

This painting, possibly by H. Holland, shows the former tower of the water works in Barbourne. The works were built in 1770, and water was taken from the River Severn to be pumped from this tower into wooden pipes to supply the city. It became redundant when the new waterworks were built in 1856, and was finally demolished in 1960s.
