St George's Lane, Barbourne (1905
)
by E.A. Phipson

St George's Lane in Barbourne contained several pre-Victorian houses and cottages. These have now all but disappeared, but this view by E.A. Phipson painted in 1905 shows some which survived until this century. Barbourne is a residential suburb to the north of the city, formerly in the parish of Claines. St George's Church was built in 1893-5 to designs by Sir Aston Webb.
