Church Walk, St John's (1977
)
Anonymous

Church Walk takes its name from St Clements Church. The medieval church of St Clement stood at the west end of Dolday, by the River, but the parish lay on the west bank around Henwick. After centuries of flooding, a new church was built in Henwick Road in 1822. It is an extraordinary building in a neo-norman style and can be seen across the site of the cottages at the west end of Tybridge Street. The photograph was taken in 1977 before flats and houses were built on the site.
