Lich Street (1904)
by E.A.Phipson

Lich Street in 1904 by E.A.Phipson. Friar Street can be seen in the background, and on the right parts of St Michael's Church and the Lich Gate. Lich Street was a medieval thoroughfare linking High Street to Friar Street and Sidbury. It was an attractive street of timber-framed and brick buildings, but had fallen into decline by the early years of the 20th century. It was cleared in the 1950s and 1960s.
