St Michael's Church and College Street (1938)

St Michael's Church and the west end of College Street in February 1938 by H.Romer. St Michael's Church was rebuilt in 1839 across the road from the original site. The buildings around it formed the north side of the Cathedral Precinct, and the medieval Lichgate stood by the church. St Michael's, the Lichgate, and the Punch Bowl Inn, (on the right in this view) were all demolished by 1965 when the present Lichgate Shopping Centre was built
