Inside All Saints Church (1904)
Anonymous
This photograph shows
the interior of All Saints Church in September 1904. Next
to the woman, a Miss Agape Parker, is the chained bible
and 18th century wrought iron sword rest. The sword rest
would have once been located in the Mayor's pews and the
ceremonial sword placed there when the Mayor attended
the church. The Georgian pews were removed in the 19th
century but since this photograph the sword rest has been
resited at the east end of the nave.
