The Trinity (late 19th century)
by E.A.Phipson
This undated view by E.A.Phipson
shows cottages in the Trinity which were next to Queen
Elizabeth House. All these buildings formed part of the
Trinity Hospital, which had a hall and chapel either side
of the present Bridge House in Trinity Passage. The Hospital
was a medieval foundation run by the Guild of the Holy
Trinity. The massive brick chimneys were a conspicuous
feature of the streetscape, lost when the cottages were
demolished in the 19th century.
