New Street (19th century)
Anonymous

This 19th century illustration of old houses in New Street shows Nash House, the fine four-storey timber-framed town house, which dates from the 17th century. It was then a furniture shop belonging to the Slade family. The house to the right is on the site of the home of Alderman John Nash, Mayor of Worcester in 1633. New Street is the continuation of Friar Street - 'new' in that most of the properties were rebuilt in the 16th century. It still contains an attractive mixture of 16th and 17th century timber-framed and 18th and 19th century brick buildings.
