A Bazaar at the Shire Hall (c.1845)

A bazaar was held at the Shire Hall to raise funds for a new natural history museum and recorded in this print of c.1845. The first natural history museum was founded in 1833 in Angel Street by Sir Charles Hastings, but moved to larger premises in Foregate Street in 1836, before becoming part of the City Museum at the Victoria Institute in 1896.
