The Foregate (1975)

Anonymous

To the north of the Cross, the site of the Foregate marked the northern boundary of the medieval city. The large gate spanned the street at this point and beyond a suburb extended along the present Foregate Street. This photograph shows the group of fine 18th and 19th century buildings at the south end of Foregate Street as they were in 1975. Notice that the traffic was still able to travel south.
