Talbot Street, looking south (1975)

Anonymous

Fownes glove factory stood in Talbot Street, seen here congested with parked cars in 1975. Talbot Street was erased from the Worcester street map with the construction of City Walls Road, which the glove factory (now a hotel) fronts on to today. Fownes Gloves was one of the last surviving glove factories in Worcester operating in the city well into the 20th century. A timber- framed gable of the Commandery is visible beyond, beneath the regency houses on Greenhill.
