The eastern stretch of the City Walls (1975)

Anonymous

The eastern stretch of the city wall became little more than a property boundary with the development of the Blockhouse in the 19th century. After the clearance of properties in the 1970s the wall was once again revealed, with its massive plinth of sandstone blocks and the upper parts much patched with later brickwork. This view was taken to the east of New Street in 1975.
