Angel Place - central in this 1938 aerial photograph Angel Place developed out of a late medieval suburb, lying just within the City Walls, and contained a Dominican Friary from which the area later took it's name - Blackfriars.

The area to the west was comprehensively redeveloped in the late 1960's to form a car park and shopping centre (the area shown on the left in a 1938 aerial photograph).
