Bull Entry/ Birdport, c.1900

Birdport with Bull Entry leading off to the left about 1900. The building on the far corner of Bull Entry (left, middle ground) was Webb's Horse Hair factory which was established in 1865 for the production of high quality horsehair carpets. The area was demolished as part of a slum clearance during the 1930's, while the line of Birdport was changed during the 1940's to become Deansway. Bull Entry still exists, but now as a driveway which runs behind the College of Technology's St Wulstan's building - originally built as a police station in 1939.
