The Market Hall marked on the 1886 1:2500 Ordinance Survey map The Market Hall was built in 1804 opposite the Guildhall and ran between the High Street and the Shambles (marked on the left on the 1886 1:2500 OS map). However an extra wing opened in 1881 and ran through to Pump Street, the entrance of which can still be seen today. The only remnant left of the hall in the High street is a clock which was given by Richard Padmore in 1849.
