Experience The Commandery in its very first incarnation as a medieval monastic hospital. Learn about the bizarre world of medieval medicine, with its vast array of strange medieval remedies to cure any ailment - including The Commandery’s very own blood sucking leeches! Decipher the symbolism of medieval art - what did the vibrant paintings and stained glass images really mean to medieval pilgrims?

Building Detectives: The focus is on historical enquiry and local history. The activities are designed to encourage the children to question and problem solve. They can study a range of sources. These include artefacts, buildings, the historic environment and documentation. They will practise the key skills of communication and team working.
