Experience the history of The Commandery that we rarely get to see - the history beneath our feet! Discover what was unearthed at the Commandery, rebuild a pot or make a decorative ‘medieval’ floor tile.

Take part in our ‘mini dig’ and learn how to dig, wash and sort finds

The focus is on historical enquiry and local history.

The activities are designed to encourage the children to question and problem solve. They can study a range of sources. These include artefacts, buildings, the historic environment and documentation.

They will practise the key skills of communication and team working.
