Harry Adams was born in Worcester and educated at a private
school, studying in Paris at the Academie Julian from 1895-96. He
later worked at Royal Worcester Porcelain and taught life drawing
at Worcester College of Art during the war. A regular exhibitor
at the Royal Academy from 1896-1927, Adams also had work purchased
by the Tate Gallery in London.
Harry Adams became well known as a landscape painter of mountain
and snow scenes, no doubt inspired by several visits to Switzerland.
In Winter Sunshine, he uses small vigorous brush strokes, bright
colours and lots of pure white, to create the impression of a bright
sun light, filtering through the trees.
