ARCHAEOLOGY SERVICE - The Worcester City Historic Environment Record

The Worcester City HER (Historic Environment Record) contains information relating to all known archaeological sites within the local authority area.

The HER has records of archaeological sites and finds dating from the prehistoric period until the post-medieval period, including Scheduled Ancient Monuments. The HER also holds records of listed buildings, and other buildings of historic or intrinsic local, regional or national interest and 20th century fortifications.

The HER consists of a computer database, with a link to a geographical information system. Information for the city centre and surrounding area is held in the Worcester Urban Archaeological Database. The HER also holds a collection of associated reports and paper files relating to archaeological sites and finds from the district.

The City HER is open to the public Monday - Friday 10am - 5pm, by appointment.
